Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo Pedal Midnight Edition.
Capture the rich warmth and sonic quirks of vintage tape delay without the hassle of real tape maintenance. Powered by Strymon’s advanced SHARC DSP chip, the El Capistan dTape Echo pedal faithfully recreates three classic tape machine styles, each with three unique modes and extensive tweakability for truly expressive, dynamic delay sounds.
Vintage Tape Delay, Digitally Reimagined
El Capistan doesn’t simply emulate specific tape delay models—it brings to life three fundamental tape machine types: a single fixed-head with variable-speed motor, multiple heads with variable-speed motor, and a sliding head with fixed-speed motor. Each machine type offers three modes to switch delay time ranges, select active tape heads, and unlock sound-on-sound looping, giving you the ability to dial in vintage favorites like Echoplex and Space Echo or invent entirely new analog delay textures.
Deep Parameter Control
With 10 accessible parameters, El Capistan offers unrivaled sonic flexibility. Easily sculpt your tone with Time, Mix, Tape Age, Repeats, and Wow & Flutter controls. A deeper layer of parameters—including Tape Crinkle, Tape Bias, Low End Contour, lush Spring Reverb, and a ±3dB Boost/Cut—is accessible by pressing both footswitches simultaneously, letting you dive into advanced tonal shaping. Add an expression pedal to take real-time control of any parameter, and use the optional footswitch to instantly recall your favorite settings.
