A versatile dual linear VCA designed for both audio and CV processing, the Fascina goes far beyond traditional amplitude control. Built with Ritual Electronics’ signature approach to flexible, patch-programmable design, it combines clean dynamics handling with aggressive gain potential, making it equally suited for precision mixing, modulation shaping, and creative sound destruction.
At its core, Fascina features two high-quality linear VCAs based on the SSI2164 chipset, delivering smooth and accurate response for both control voltages and audio signals. Each channel includes a dedicated CV attenuverter, allowing for precise level scaling as well as inversion—ideal for dynamic modulation tasks like ducking pads, shaping envelopes, or creating responsive movement within a patch.
A standout feature is the audio control input, which enables external audio signals to modulate the VCA. With its own attenuverter, this opens the door to complex behaviors such as sidechain-style ducking, expansion, and hybrid amplitude modulation, making Fascina a powerful tool for dynamic and rhythmic patching.
To maintain clarity in fast, percussive contexts, Fascina includes an anti-click circuit that ensures smooth operation even with extremely short envelopes. This makes it especially effective for tight basslines, transient-heavy material, and rhythmic modulation without unwanted artifacts.
In addition to transparent control, Fascina offers substantial gain, allowing it to function as a voltage-controlled saturator or even a hard limiter. With output levels reaching up to 12Vpp, it can push signals into rich harmonic distortion or clamp them for controlled dynamics.
Thanks to its modular architecture, Fascina can be reconfigured within a patch to serve multiple roles, including envelope following, sample & hold, preamplification, stereo compression, or dual distortion—making it a highly adaptable utility module in any Eurorack system.
