Solid State Logic UMD192 Portable Digital Audio Interface.
The UMD192 is Solid State Logic’s most powerful digital audio interface to date, designed for professional live sound, broadcast, and high-end studio applications. Compact, portable, and exceptionally flexible, it provides seamless integration between USB, MADI, and Dante, delivering uncompromising performance for recording, playback, and format conversion.
Offering up to 192 channels at 44.1/48 kHz and 96 kHz, or 128 channels at 176.4/192 kHz, the UMD192 delivers massive I/O capacity in a ½-rack-width (½ RU) form factor—ideal for mobile rigs, control rooms, and mission-critical workflows.
The Perfect Bridge Between USB, MADI & Dante
The UMD192 is designed for advanced format bridging and routing. It supports bidirectional audio between any two formats—USB, MADI, or Dante—while simultaneously splitting audio to the third format. This makes it ideal for integrating MADI systems into Dante networks, or for high-channel-count recording and playback via USB 3.0.
On the network side, the UMD192 delivers fully interoperable Dante AoIP, with AES67 and ST 2110 (with DDM) support. Ultra-low Dante latency—down to 0.25 ms—ensures reliable performance in demanding real-time environments.
Flexible clocking is available from either MADI or Dante, supporting sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz. With six MADI BNC pairs, the unit can be configured for redundant operation, providing three dual-redundant MADI connections for broadcast and live sound applications where reliability is critical.
A Versatile Solution for Live, Broadcast & Studio
While the UMD192 is a natural fit for live sound and broadcast environments, its flexibility makes it equally powerful in studio and postproduction workflows. It integrates seamlessly with SSL System T, and serves as a high-channel-count computer interface for Harrison 32Classic systems with Dante.
The UMD192 is also an ideal companion for SSL ORIGIN and Oracle consoles requiring Dante or MADI conversion, and a robust solution for non-SSL systems across live, broadcast, studio, and postproduction applications. Whether used as a primary interface or a format bridge, the UMD192 delivers reliable performance and future-proof connectivity.
Intuitive Front-Panel Control
The front panel provides clear, high-visibility indicators for signal flow, sample-rate synchronization, power status, and network connectivity, offering real-time feedback in high-pressure environments.
To prevent accidental changes during operation, front-panel controls are locked by default. Press and hold the padlock button to temporarily unlock controls and adjust settings:
-
Lockout: Press and hold to unlock or relock the front panel
-
Mode: Cycle through signal-flow modes (when unlocked)
-
Clock Source: Toggle between Dante and MADI clocking (when unlocked)
-
MADI Redundancy: Enable or disable redundant MADI mode (applies to all MADI ports)
Flexible Power & Redundancy
The UMD192 supports multiple power options, including AC mains, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and USB, allowing flexible deployment and redundancy planning. Any power source can be used independently, or PoE can be combined with an external PSU for redundant operation.
Mac & Windows Compatibility
UMD192 is a class-compliant USB audio interface on macOS, operating natively with Core Audio and requiring no additional drivers. Simply connect the unit, select it as your audio device, and begin working immediately—ideal for guest engineers and fast-paced environments.
On Windows systems, the UMD192 uses SSL’s ASIO driver, available from the SSL Support portal. The driver is multi-client, allowing multiple ASIO applications to access the interface simultaneously.
