Canoga Vintage Silicon Fuzz
The Canoga is a simple, all-analog fuzz pedal based on a tweaked vintage silicon Fuzz Face® design from Strymon’s Series A line. Originally developed as a personal experiment, it was later refined and reintroduced as part of a dedicated analog platform focused on pure, no-DSP circuit design.
At its core, Canoga delivers classic fuzz tones with a wide range of gain, from saturated distortion to aggressive fuzz textures. With the guitar volume rolled down, it responds dynamically, opening up cleaner, articulate tones that remain bright and clear without becoming muddy. This interaction between guitar volume, pickup impedance, and input stage is central to its behavior.
Designed to work especially well with an amp that is already slightly driven, Canoga mirrors the classic 60s–70s approach to fuzz staging. The pedal’s simplicity—just Drive and Level controls—keeps the focus on interaction rather than parameter shaping, while still offering a surprisingly wide tonal range depending on how it is played.
Like other unbuffered fuzz circuits, Canoga is highly responsive to being placed directly after the guitar, preserving the natural relationship between pickups and input stage. This makes it especially expressive for players who rely on volume knob dynamics for shifting between clean, crunch, and full fuzz textures.
