UDO DMNO - 8 Voice Polyphonic Binaural Analog-hybrid Desktop.
The UDO DMNO ON is an 8-voice, 2-part multitimbral hybrid synthesizer in a compact desktop format. Built around two independent synthesizer engines, DMNO combines high-resolution FPGA digital oscillators with an analog signal path and UDO’s Dynamic Multi-Core Stereo VCF system. The result is a flexible sound engine capable of producing everything from warm, organic tones and expansive pads to heavily processed, overdriven textures and experimental sounds.
Each of the two independent DMNO engines provides its own oscillators, filters, modulation, and effects, allowing the instrument to function as two complete timbral layers. Eight selectable Play Modes let you quickly change how these two engines interact, including traditional Single, Dual, and Split configurations as well as more experimental options such as Rotate, Random, Chaos, One-Two, and Cascade. These modes can stack, divide, alternate, or otherwise dynamically route the two synthesizer engines for a wide range of performance and sound-design possibilities.
The DMNO ON features UDO’s Dynamic Multi-Core Stereo analog filters, with configurable series, parallel, and stereo operation. This flexible filter architecture provides multiple filter modes while retaining the warm character of an analog signal path. The hybrid architecture combines these analog filters with FPGA-based digital oscillators and a 32-bit DSP effects engine featuring delay, reverb, EQ, overdrive distortion, and chorus.
The ON system also makes the DMNO ON expandable. The base unit provides the complete 8-voice synthesis engine in a streamlined desktop format, while optional ONM expansion modules can add dedicated hands-on control. Up to two ONM units can be connected using secure screw-locking D-Sub cables, with no additional power supply required. An ONM-1 Synth Control can recreate the dual-control layout of the keyboard DMNO, while the ONM-2 Effects Control provides additional hands-on access to the effects section.
DMNO is equally well equipped for studio and performance setups. Its connectivity includes a 2-in/2-out 24-bit USB audio interface, stereo external audio input with variable-gain preamplification, a gate level detector, and an envelope follower that can be routed into the modulation matrix. Two assignable CV and gate/clock outputs provide integration with modular and other analog equipment, while the stereo auxiliary output can be assigned to either DMNO engine, USB audio from a connected host, or the effects send bus.
A high-contrast electroluminescent glass vacuum fluorescent display provides clear access to patch management, voicing, filters, effects, and sequencing. Dedicated controls are designed for immediate access with minimal menu diving, while flip-up rear feet provide a more comfortable operating angle. The compact desktop chassis also supports VESA mounting for flexible studio configurations.
