The Verbos Electronics Control Voltage Processor is a Eurorack CV Mixer, crossfader, and multi-purpose slew rate limiter clearly inspired by the Buchla 257 and Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator (DUSG). It adds an extra layer of nuance to the already multifaceted Verbos ecosystem, adding new possibilities to one of the finest lines of Eurorack modules available.
The two CV mixer sections offer the functionality of the Buchla 257 and more. At their core, these sections are four-channel mixers: the first two channels offer inverting attenuators for level control. The third and fourth inputs are blended via crossfader-style control, which may be voltage-controlled for dynamic signal mixing or VCA-like response when only one input is used. The output of each mixer is then added together with a variable offset. With two of these mixers in one module, any combination of polarization, offsetting, and dynamic signal combination is suddenly accessible; and of course, this adds endless flexibility even just within the context of the Verbos ecosystem itself.
And while these voltage processors alone would have been enough to constitute an endlessly useful module, Verbos have also included an integrated slew limiter in the style of Serge's DUSG. This style of slew limiter is itself a remarkably flexible circuit, capable of everything from filtering and slewing to envelopes, LFOs, and more. The slew generator offers signal and trigger inputs for use as a traditional slew or AD envelope, respectively. A dedicated gate output goes high when the slew signal drops below 100mV, making it possible to turn the processor into an LFO/cycling envelope by patching the gate output to the trigger input. Dedicated CV inputs for the positive and negative slew make CV-enabled shaping and FM a possibility as well.
Slope curve shapes are continuously variable from linear to RC, and the "bounce" parameter provides a unique CV overshoot for special effect.
Adding long-awaited utility to the Verbos family of designs, the Control Voltage Processor is far more than the sum of its parts: a central part of a synthesizer's nervous systems, where signals go to be intermingled and integrated into dynamic, ever-changing new forms.
