The Vongon Rosetones is a polyphonic resonant string synthesizer pedal that generates a synth voice from incoming audio by analyzing pitch and exciting a bank of tuned resonators. It tracks notes across a chromatic range and routes detected pitches into sympathetic resonators, producing harmonic textures and evolving chord structures that follow the player's performance.
At its core is a 12-voice chromatic resonator bank, where each pitch class corresponds to a dedicated resonator implemented as a tuned delay line. Incoming audio is processed by chromatic detection filters, and all octaves of a given pitch class are combined into a single control signal that drives the corresponding resonator. When sufficient energy is present, the resonator sustains and interacts with feedback, creating dynamic harmonic movement. The twelve front-panel LEDs act as level indicators for each resonator, providing real-time visualization of how input signals excite the system.
The signal path includes a chromatic envelope follower feeding the resonator bank, followed by a wave-shaping stage and stereo voice mapping, where lower notes are positioned left and higher notes right in stereo operation. The octave control shifts the active 12-note window across the keyboard range without affecting pitch detection, allowing the same played notes to be re-voiced into different registers and chord inversions.
Sensitivity and feedback controls define how the resonators respond. Sensitivity determines how strongly the input signal excites the resonators, while feedback sets the decay and sustain characteristics. These controls operate interactively, enabling responses ranging from short, percussive resonance to sustained, evolving tones. The pedal can also self-oscillate when sensitivity and feedback are increased, allowing the internal noise floor or MIDI input to drive the resonators as a standalone sound source.
Modulation is applied globally to the resonator output. A chorus mode introduces multi-voice detuning for stereo width, while a vibrato mode applies pitch modulation per voice. Both modes can be used independently or combined. A tone control adjusts the brightness of the synthesized signal, and a mix control blends the dry input with the processed output.
The pedal supports both mono and stereo operation, with pitch-based stereo imaging when used in stereo. It accepts instrument or line-level signals and includes selectable input gain modes. MIDI integration allows external note control, parameter automation, and access to onboard presets. MIDI note messages can directly excite resonators, enabling layered harmonies or fully MIDI-driven operation. The unit also offers selectable bypass modes, including analog buffered bypass and DSP trails.

- Mix: Blends dry input signal with synthesized output.
- Tone: Adjusts brightness of the synth signal from darker to brighter response.
- Modulation: Sets modulation depth for the selected mode.
- Chorus: Applies multi-voice detuning for widened ensemble effect.
- Vibrato: Applies drifting pitch modulation per synth voice.
- Synth Bypass Footswitch: Toggles the effect on or off.
