A-134-1 est un module universel de panoramique et/ou de crossfader contrôlé par tension. Si le module est utilisé comme dispositif de panoramique contrôlé par tension, un signal audio est balancé vers deux sorties différentes. Si le module est utilisé comme Crossfader contrôlé en tension, deux signaux audio sont mélangés sur une sortie commune. Le module permet une composition uniforme des deux fonctions.
Le module contient deux VCA linéaires de haute qualité (fabriqués avec CEM3381/PA381 jusqu'en avril 2013, SSM2164 à partir de mai 2013). Le VCA2 fonctionne dans le sens inverse du VCA1, c'est-à-dire que plus le volume sonore du VCA1 augmente, plus le volume sonore du VCA2 diminue. Le panoramique ou le fondu enchaîné est réglé à l'aide d'un bouton de commande (commande manuelle) et de deux tensions de commande externes, dont l'une est équipée d'un atténuateur. Les sources de tension de contrôle appropriées sont par exemple les LFO (A-145, A-146, A-147), les signaux d'enveloppe (A-140, A-141, A-142, A-119), aléatoire (A-118), Theremin (A-178) ou une tension provenant d'une interface MIDI-to-CV (A-190, A-191). Le panning/crossfading est affiché par 2 LEDs.
L'A-134-1 dispose d'une entrée audio avec atténuateur pour chaque VCA. Si l'entrée audio du VCA2 n'est pas utilisée, l'entrée audio du VCA1 est connectée à l'entrée audio du VCA 2, c'est-à-dire que les prises sont "normalisées". Le module possède trois sorties audio : Sortie gauche (VCA1), Sortie droite (VCA2) et Mix. Pour les applications de panoramique, les sorties Left Out et Right Out sont utilisées. Si le module est utilisé comme Crossfader, la sortie Mix fonctionne comme une sortie.
Le module A-134-1 permet d'obtenir des effets de panoramique stéréophonique contrôlés par tension (un signal audio distribué sur deux sorties), des effets de fondu enchaîné (deux entrées audio mélangées à une sortie audio avec une proportion de volume contrôlée par tension) et des combinaisons de ces deux effets.

Remarques :
La version 1 du module A-134-1 ne peut traiter que des signaux audio. Elle ne peut pas être utilisée pour traiter des tensions de contrôle à variation lente car les entrées/sorties sont couplées en courant alternatif. La version 1 a été fabriquée jusqu'à avril 2013 environ et peut être identifiée par le circuit VCA CEM3381 (circuit à 8 broches étiqueté CEM3381 ou PA381).
La version 2 du module A-134-1 est capable de traiter même des tensions de commande variant lentement car les entrées/sorties sont couplées en courant continu. La version 2 est fabriquée depuis mai 2013 environ et peut être identifiée par le circuit VCA SSM2164 (circuit à 16 broches étiqueté SSM2164 ou V2164).
