Le module A-134-2 contient deux crossfaders identiques commandés par tension.
Chaque unité possède deux amplificateurs contrôlés par tension (VCA) avec un comportement de contrôle opposé. Les sorties des deux VCA sont mélangées pour obtenir une sortie commune. Le comportement des entrées de tension de contrôle peut être choisi à l'aide d'un cavalier interne :
Mode symétrique : Si le cavalier correspondant n'est pas réglé, les deux VCA du crossfader ont la même amplification de 50 % avec un CV nul. Si le CV appliqué devient positif, l'amplification du VCA1 augmente et celle du VCA2 diminue de la même manière. Un CV négatif a le résultat inverse. La plage de tension CV pour obtenir les positions maximum/minimum du crossfader est d'environ -2,5....+2,5V. Ce mode est utile pour les tensions de contrôle bidirectionnelles (c'est-à-dire positives et négatives), par exemple LFO ou joy stick (ajusté à 0V CV en position centrale).
Mode asymétrique : Si le cavalier correspondant est réglé, le VCA1 est complètement fermé et le VCA2 a une amplification totale de 100 % avec un CV nul. Si le CV appliqué devient positif, l'amplification de VCA1 augmente et celle de VCA2 diminue de la même manière. La plage de tension CV permettant d'obtenir les positions maximum/minimum du crossfader est d'environ 0....+5V. Un CV négatif n'a aucune fonction dans ce mode. Ce mode est utile pour les tensions de contrôle unidirectionnelles (c'est-à-dire uniquement positives), par exemple ADSR, contrôleur de ruban ou tension de contrôle Theremin.
L'entrée CV de l'unité supérieure (CV1) est normalisée à l'entrée CV de l'unité inférieure (CV2). En d'autres termes, si aucune fiche n'est insérée dans CV2, l'entrée CV de l'unité supérieure (CV1) contrôle également l'unité inférieure.
La deuxième entrée de signal de l'unité supérieure (In1B) est normalisée à la première entrée de signal de l'unité inférieure (In2A). Autrement dit, si aucune fiche n'est insérée dans In2A, le signal In1B est utilisé comme premier signal d'entrée de la deuxième unité.
Comme les entrées et les sorties sont couplées en courant continu, le module peut être utilisé à la fois pour le traitement des signaux audio et des signaux de tension de commande.
Le module peut être modifié pour n'avoir qu'une seule sortie commune disponible, c'est-à-dire que les sorties 1 et 2 sont mélangées et apparaissent sur la prise Out 2. Avec cette modification, le module peut être utilisé en combinaison avec le module Joy Stick A-174 comme un crossfader bidimensionnel, c'est-à-dire que quatre signaux sont mélangés à une sortie, la position du Joy Stick définissant la relation entre les signaux. Dans cette application, la sortie 1 n'a aucune fonction. Les deux unités du A-134-2 doivent être réglées en mode symétrique :
Manette en position centrale (CVX = 0V, CVY = 0V) : In1A = 50%, In1B = 50%, In2A = 50%, In2B = 50%, c'est-à-dire que les quatre signaux ont pratiquement le même niveau
Manette en position haute (CVY ~ +3,5V, CVX = 0V) : In1A = 100%, In1B = 0%, In2A = 50%, In2B = 50%
Manette en position basse (CVY ~ -3,5V, CVX = 0V) : In1A = 0%, In1B = 100%, In2A = 50%, In2B = 50%
Joystick en position droite (CVY = 0V, CVX ~ +3.5V) : In1A = 50%, In1B = 50%, In2A = 100%, In2B = 0%
Joystick en position gauche (CVY = 0V, CVX ~ -3.5V) : In1A = 50%, In1B = 50%, In2A = 0%, In2B = 100%.
Applications :
Utilisation des sorties CV X et CV Y du module joystick A-174 pour effectuer un fondu enchaîné entre différents signaux audio ou de tension de commande :
fondu enchaîné contrôlé par tension ("morphing") entre signaux audio (par exemple, deux formes d'onde VCO ou VCO et bruit ou deux sorties VCF)
fondu enchaîné contrôlé par tension entre différentes tensions de modulation (par exemple, deux formes d'onde LFO différentes du même LFO, deux LFO différents ou LFO et ADSR)
Signification des cavaliers :
JP2 : offset unité supérieure (lorsque installé offset = 0V, lorsque non installé offset = +2.5V)
JP3 : offset unité inférieure (lorsque installé offset = 0V, lorsque non installé offset = +2.5V)
Sorties individuelles pour l'unité supérieure/inférieure : JP4, JP5 et JP6 installés
sortie commune Out 2 pour les deux unités : JP4 et JP5 installés, JP6 retiré et les broches de JP4 et JP5 doivent être connectées (comme des cavaliers sont installés sur JP4 et JP5, peu importe laquelle des broches de JP4 et JP5 est connectée). Dans ce cas, la prise Out 1 n'a aucune fonction et Out 2 est la sortie de la somme pour les deux unités !
