Shakmat Modular Dual Dagger Stereo Filter Kit
The Shakmat Modular Dual Dagger is a compact stereo filtering system designed for detailed spectral shaping, animated stereo processing, and creative band-pass effects in Eurorack systems. This DIY kit provides the components required to build the 6 HP module, giving experienced builders access to a precisely calibrated dual-channel filter architecture designed to maintain consistent behaviour across the left and right channels.
At its core, the Dual Dagger combines independent 24 dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters for each side of a stereo signal. Dedicated Low-Pass and High-Pass controls allow the upper and lower limits of the spectrum to be shaped independently, making the module equally useful for subtle cleanup, dramatic frequency isolation, and performance-oriented filtering.
A shared resonance control can be assigned to either the high-pass or low-pass section, while dedicated CV control allows resonance to become part of a dynamic modulation patch. Engaging the Link function changes the relationship between the filters and transforms the Dual Dagger into a steep 48 dB/octave band-pass processor. In this configuration, the controls provide intuitive access to center frequency, bandwidth, and resonance at the band edges.
One of the module's most distinctive features is its Pan modulation system. Rather than controlling conventional audio panning, this function offsets the cutoff frequencies between the left and right channels. Applying CV to the Pan inputs can therefore create animated stereo filtering, widening effects, opposing spectral movements, and spatial modulation that would normally require multiple independent filters and additional control modules.
Careful calibration ensures that both audio channels track closely when identical stereo processing is required. Combined with voltage control over high-pass frequency, low-pass frequency, resonance, and stereo offset, the Dual Dagger works equally well as a precision stereo utility or an expressive sound-design processor.
